Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is a 3D platformer released on Nintendo Switch on 2021. It is an enhanced and expanded re-release of action platformer Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U, featuring a new standalone single player adventure Bowser's Fury alongside other improvements such as improved resolutions and faster character movement speeds. New to this Nintendo Switch release is amiibo support, included for both adventures.
amiibo functionality[]
To scan an amiibo, hold ▶⃝ on the - JoyCon or right on the d-pad to bring up the amiibo prompt, then tap to scan. The item given to the player depends on the amiibo scanned. In Super Mario 3D World, up to ten unique amiibo can be used per level, and players must complete the level or lose all their lives in order to use the same amiibo again.
- Cat Mario amiibo (Super Mario series): Spawns an Invincibility Bell in Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury, turning Mario into White Cat Mario.
- Cat Peach amiibo (Super Mario series): Spawns a random power-up item in Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury.
- Any Bowser amiibo: Summon Fury Bowser on demand in Bowser's Fury and spawns a Super Star in Super Mario 3D World.
- Any Bowser Jr. amiibo: Makes Bowser Jr perform a shockwave attack in Bowser's Fury and spawns a Super Star in Super Mario 3D World.
- Other compatible Super Mario character amiibo: Spawns a Super Star in Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury
- All other amiibo: Spawns a 1-UP Mushroom in Super Mario 3D World and a Super Mushroom in Bowser's Fury
Compatible amiibo[]
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury is compatible with all amiibo. However, only the following amiibo will give the player specific items. Any color or variant of the aforementioned characters are supported, with the exception of Cat Mario and Cat Peach, where only the exact figure will reward their corresponding items.
